>> Camping Deer Birthday Party

Children’s minds are full of wonderful dreams. On Easton’s 4th birthday he asked his parents to throw him a “Camping Deer” Themed party! Now that’s a challenge . Check out the amazing “Camping Deer Birthday Party” from Sarah e. Evans Photography and friends…

THE EVENT ~ A couple months before my son, Easton’s 4th birthday I had asked him what kind of party he wanted to have? His response to me was “A Camping Deer Party!” So that is just what i did!

THE THEME ~ I incorporated elements that you would use while camping such as real tents for the kids to play in as well as use for setting while eating their fire roasted hotdogs!

THE PLANNING ~ When you think of camping you think of s’mores so i made “smore pops” out of marsh mellows, melted chocolate, and graham cracker crumbs. I looked around for someone to make camping cookies for the party but couldn’t find anyone. So the night before the party my sister and I looked up how to make fondant on YouTube and that is what we did! We made fondant campfires for the tops of regular sugar cookies to help complete the look of the “dessert table!” Yes I know they are far from perfect but i think they worked just fine! ; ) And were very good!

THE CAKE ~ The cake from T Cakes Creations was just perfect! My son had a fit over it and LOVED IT!

THE DESSERTS ~ I made homemade “dirt cups” as a dessert for everyone to enjoy. I tied wooden spoons that I purchased from an etsy store called “Sucre & Spice”. I thought that they needed a little something special so I added the words “camp” with stamps.

THE FAVORS ~ For the favors, I found these perfect little buckets at the dollar section at Target back in Nov.and thought they would be perfect to house “trail mix” in for the kids to take home! I again personalized the tag with a deer stamp to bring the element of the deer into the party again.

THE ACTIVITIES ~ The kids enjoyed doing a scavenger hunt and making s’mores. We even had an outdoor movie screen setup for the Yogi bear movie! I used some decor such as the metal stand, deer antlers, and birch containers from Tamara Menges Designs for the tablescape. I love the feeling of flannel and the camping feel that is gives, so i found the black and red checked material at walmart and thought the mix of it with the burlap would be the perfect “woodsy” combination!

THE ATTIRE ~ Since we were providing a camping feel I chose to have some special T-shirts made for our family and my sisters.

THE DIY ~ The signs in the yard were hand painted by me using some left over boards we had out in my husband’s shop. Over all I found that making little things such as desserts and handmade items help keep the cost down.

TIP FROM A PRO! ~ I love planning fun parties for my boy’s birthdays, while also keeping the cost in a “happy range” for my husband. For this party I really looked around the house, my husband’s shop, and our garage for ideas and useful items for the party. I took simple scrap wood and painted it for some rustic signs that made fun details for the party.  I also asked family members to borrow a fire pit and projector before committing to purchase those unnecessary items. Look around before purchasing! ; )
